Kerala Police Constable physical standards, worked through

Police Constable (Armed Police Battalion) under Category 537/2022 published a minimum of 168 cm height and 81 cm chest with 5 cm expansion, relaxed to 160 cm and 76 cm for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Woman Police Constable under Category 582/2024 published a minimum height of 157 cm and no chest measurement at all. These are those cycles’ figures, quoted with their category numbers so you can see they are not a constant.

Steps

  1. These numbers belong to specific recruitments

Category 537/2022 and Category 582/2024 are two particular notifications. Their figures are quoted here as worked examples, not as standing Kerala Police requirements. Check the notification you are actually applying to.

  2. Men: height, chest and expansion all apply

Under Category 537/2022 the requirement was 168 cm height and 81 cm chest with 5 cm expansion. Community relaxation lowered the height and chest floors to 160 cm and 76 cm — but the notification states the 5 cm expansion requirement applies to those candidates as well.

  3. Women: height only

Under Category 582/2024 the requirement was 157 cm, relaxed to 150 cm for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. No chest measurement was prescribed.

  4. The PET event lists differ by gender

Under Category 537/2022 the men’s events were the 100 m run, high jump, long jump, shot put of 7,264 g, cricket-ball throw, rope climbing, pull-ups and the 1,500 m run. Under Category 582/2024 the women’s events were the 100 m run, high jump, long jump, shot put of 4 kg, 200 m run, throw-ball throw, shuttle race and skipping. Five of eight qualifies in each case.

  5. Vision is the same in both

Both required 6/6 distant vision and 0.5 near Snellen in each eye, without glasses. Colour blindness, squint and morbid conditions of the eye or lids are disqualifying.

  6. The physical-defect list applies too

Knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein, bow legs, deformed limbs and defective speech or hearing are named as disqualifiers in the medical certificate annexed to both notifications.

Frequently asked questions

Is 168 cm the permanent Kerala Police height requirement?#

No. It is the figure published for Police Constable under Category 537/2022. Requirements are set per recruitment and are not guaranteed to repeat. Read your own notification.

Do women undergo a chest measurement?#

Not under Category 582/2024 — that notification prescribed height only for Woman Police Constable.

Does community relaxation reduce the chest expansion requirement?#

No. Category 537/2022 relaxes the height and chest floors for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes but states that the 5 cm expansion requirement applies to them as well.

Do tattoos disqualify you?#

Kerala PSC does not mention tattoos in any of the notifications we examined — Police, Woman Police, Excise, Forest, Fire or Driver. We are not able to tell you it disqualifies you, and we are not able to tell you it does not. If it matters to your application, ask the Commission directly rather than trusting a coaching site.
