How Kerala PSC calculates your age
The reckoning date is 1 January of the year the notification is published in the Gazette. Kerala PSC states: “The day of reckoning age of an applicant for a selection is the 1st day of January of the year in which the Commission published the Notification for that particular Selection.”
Every notification prints an explicit birth-date window — for example “born between 02.01.1986 and 01.01.2008 (both dates included)”. That printed window is what decides eligibility, and both boundary dates count as eligible.
Since 24 February 2026 the standard band for most posts is 18–40 (it was 18–36 before). The change is not retroactive — notifications gazetted earlier keep their old window, which is why this page checks each notification’s own printed dates instead of one fixed band.
After every relaxation, the upper age limit can never exceed 50 years. The minimum age is never relaxed.

Cases this calculator does not compute
- Ex-servicemen: the relaxation equals your Defence service plus unemployment period, capped at 5 years — it depends on your service record, so check it against the notification.
- SC candidates whose qualification meets the post’s minimum can have no upper age cap at all under clauses (ii)–(iii) of the General Conditions — a stronger rule than the +5 shown here.
- Several notifications grant widows, divorced and judicially separated women +5 years. It is granted per notification — verify it in the notification you are applying under.
- Provisional / departmental service relaxations equal your actual service length (with caps) and cannot be computed here.
Frequently asked questions
What is the age limit for Kerala PSC exams in 2026?
For most posts notified after 24 February 2026 the band is 18–40 for General candidates, 18–43 for OBC and 18–45 for SC/ST. Notifications gazetted before the change, and Society/Board posts, print their own windows — always read the notification’s “Age Limit” line.
On which date is my age calculated?
On 1 January of the year the notification was published in the Gazette — not the application date and not the exam date.
I was born exactly on the boundary date. Am I eligible?
Yes. Every notification states the window as “both dates included”, so a birth date exactly on either boundary is eligible.
