Kerala PSC photo and signature specifications

Kerala PSC requires a photograph of 150px × 200px on a light-shade background with the face clearly visible, and a signature, each no larger than 30 KB. The photograph must carry your name and the date it was taken — the examination instructions warn that a ticket photograph not of the specified size, not identifiable, or missing the name and date will keep you out of the hall. On the signature’s dimensions two official sources disagree, and this guide says so rather than picking one.

  1. Photograph — 150px × 200px, at most 30 KB

    The Commission’s registration instructions state the uploaded photograph must be 150px wide × 200px high and that the scanned photograph must under no circumstance exceed 30 KB.

  2. The photograph must show your name and the date it was taken

    During upload you must confirm that the image itself carries your name and the date the photograph was taken, and then re-type both values into the fields on the preview screen. This is the single most common cause of a rejected photograph.

  3. Signature — at most 30 KB, and a contradiction on the dimensions

    Both official sources agree the scanned signature must be clear, made on white paper, and no larger than 30 KB. They do not agree on its dimensions: the Commission’s registration instruction PDF states 150px × 100px, while the Thulasi portal’s own FAQ page states 150px × 200px. We report both rather than pick one — follow whatever the upload screen tells you at the time, and keep the file under 30 KB either way.

  4. Why this matters again on exam day

    The scanned photograph you uploaded is printed on your admission ticket. The General Instructions state that if that image is not of the specified size, is not identifiable, or does not bear your name and the date of the photograph, you will not be admitted to the examination. They also state, in capitals, that no photograph shall be pasted on the admission ticket.

  5. Background and pose are specified — validity is not

    The Thulasi portal’s FAQ states the photograph should be in a front facial pose with the background in a light shade and the face clearly visible. A separate widely-repeated claim — that an uploaded photo expires after ten years and blocks the profile — does not appear in the registration instructions we cite, so this guide does not state it as a rule. A recent photograph is sensible regardless.

What size should the Kerala PSC signature be?#

Kerala PSC’s own sources disagree: the registration instruction PDF says 150×200px for the photo and 150×100px for the signature, while the Thulasi portal FAQ gives 150×200px for both. Both agree on a 30 KB maximum. Follow the upload screen, and treat any site that states one figure with certainty as unreliable on this point.

What happens if my photo has no name and date on it?#

The registration flow asks you to declare that the image carries both. On exam day, the General Instructions state that an admission-ticket photograph that does not bear the name of the candidate and the date of the photograph means the candidate is not admitted to the examination.

Can I paste a photo on my printed admission ticket?#

No. The General Instructions state in capitals that no photograph shall be pasted on the admission ticket, and that candidates who produce a ticket with a photograph pasted over the scanned image will not be allowed to attend.
