Which photo ID Kerala PSC accepts at the examination hall

Kerala PSC accepts exactly 23 photo-affixed identity documents at an examination, listed in its General Instructions for candidates appearing for OMR and descriptive examinations. The document must be produced in original: the Commission states that candidates who fail to produce identity proof in original will not be permitted to attend, and that a photocopy or true copy will not be accepted.

Steps

  1. The list, as the Commission prints it

Voters ID issued by the Election Commission · Driving Licence · Passport · ID card issued by the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Kerala to differently abled persons · photo-affixed passbook issued by nationalised banks · PAN card · ID cards issued to government employees by the department or institution concerned · discharge certificate issued to ex-servicemen, or photo-affixed ID card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer · conductor licence issued by the Motor Vehicles Department · photo-affixed passbook issued by a scheduled bank, the Kerala State Co-operative Bank or district co-operative banks · photo-affixed ID card issued by public sector undertakings or government autonomous institutions to their employees · photo-affixed ID cards issued by universities of Kerala State to their employees · photo-affixed medical certificate issued by the Medical Board to differently abled persons · photo-affixed ID card issued by the Bar Council to enrolled advocates · Aadhaar card issued by the Central Government · One Time Verification certificate issued by the Commission · e-Aadhaar · National Population Register or multi-purpose National Identity Card · National Health Authority ID card · e-SHRAM card · e-PAN card · masked Aadhaar from DigiLocker · Transgender ID card from the District Magistrate.

  2. Original only

The Commission states that candidates who fail to produce identity proof in original will not be permitted to attend the examination, and that a photocopy or true copy will not be accepted.

  3. Bring it with the admission ticket and a ballpoint pen

The General Instructions state candidates shall bring only the admission ticket, identity proof in original, and a ballpoint pen with blue or black ink into the examination hall.

  4. The list has grown over time

Older Commission documents carry shorter versions of this list — 16 and 20 items — and older programme PDFs may still print one. The 23-document list above is from the current General Instructions, reference EF3-4/6/2025-KPSC.

Frequently asked questions

Is a photocopy of my Aadhaar accepted at a Kerala PSC exam?#

No. The Commission states identity proof must be produced in original and that a photocopy or true copy will not be accepted. Masked Aadhaar from DigiLocker and e-Aadhaar are separately listed as accepted documents.

Is a college or student ID card accepted?#

Not on the current list. The university-issued cards named are those issued by universities of Kerala State to their employees, not to students.

What else must I carry?#

The admission ticket and a ballpoint pen with blue or black ink. The General Instructions state these three items are what a candidate brings into the hall.

Does Kerala PSC take fingerprints at the exam hall?#

The current general instructions describe one entry check only: the original admission ticket plus one of the 23 listed photo-identity documents. Biometric verification is not mentioned, so there is also no published procedure for what happens if a scan fails.
