Between the advice memo and your appointment order
Once Kerala PSC issues your advice memo, the process moves to the appointing department, and the Commission’s role is finished. Its General Conditions require you to produce a medical certificate in the prescribed form, your original documents, and a proforma enabling verification of character and antecedents, all before you are admitted to duty. It also states, flatly, that no extension of time will be allowed for producing any document.
Steps
The handover
The advice memo is the Commission’s instruction to the appointing authority. What it is and how it works sits in the advice memo guide; this page picks up immediately after.
What you must have ready
The General Conditions require selected candidates to produce, before being admitted to duty, the necessary medical certificate in the prescribed form, the documents in original proving age, qualifications and experience, and a proforma furnishing details enabling verification of character and antecedents.
The department issues the order
The appointing authority issues the appointment or joining order and arranges document verification. This is departmental work, not Commission work.
The one hard deadline
The General Conditions state that no extension of time will be allowed for the production of any documents. That is a rule on your side of the handover, and it does not bend.
How long the department takes is not published
We could find no rule fixing how many days an appointing authority has to convert an advice into an appointment order. If such a rule exists it belongs to departmental procedure, not to anything Kerala PSC publishes. We will not invent a timeline.
This is not the same as NJD
Non-joining duty covers a candidate who never joins after being advised. This page covers a normal joining. Both are explained in the advice memo and NJD guide.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the department have to issue my appointment order?#
No deadline is published in the Commission’s General Conditions, and we found none elsewhere. It is departmental procedure. Contact the appointing department’s establishment section rather than the Commission.
Can I get more time to produce a missing document?#
No. The General Conditions state that no extension of time will be allowed for the production of any documents.
What do I need before I am admitted to duty?#
A medical certificate in the prescribed form, originals proving age, qualifications and experience, and the proforma enabling verification of character and antecedents.

Where the Commission has not published a rule, this guide says so rather than guessing. Anything marked “not officially published” is exactly that.
