Qualifications for co-operative sector posts

CSEB does not use Kerala PSC’s qualification framework. Co-operative sector posts require credentials specific to the sector, set under the co-operative societies rules — a Junior Diploma in Co-operation for a Junior Clerk, or a Higher Diploma paired with a degree. A Secretary post additionally requires years of banking experience. There is no single graduate rule covering every post.

  1. The rules are the co-operative societies rules

    Junior Clerk and Cashier qualifications are set under the co-operative societies rules, not under a Kerala PSC special rule. Do not cross-reference the Commission’s qualification standards for these posts.

  2. The standard Junior Clerk route

    A pass in the tenth standard or equivalent, plus the subordinate personnel co-operative training course — the Junior Diploma in Co-operation.

  3. The degree-holder alternatives

    A commerce degree with co-operation as an allied subject; or any degree with a Higher Diploma in Co-operation; or a science degree in co-operation and banking from the agricultural university. Each pairs a degree with a co-operative credential rather than standing on the degree alone.

  4. A district-specific carve-out

    Candidates from Kasaragod applying to societies within that district may qualify through a Karnataka co-operative federation diploma alongside the Kerala-issued one — an exception with no equivalent in the Commission’s rules.

  5. Secretary posts need experience as well

    The 2026 Secretary notification sets four routes, each requiring a degree and years of banking experience — seven years as Accountant or above with one qualification, five with another, three with a management or accountancy qualification, seven with a commerce degree in co-operation.

  6. Pay and qualification shift with the society’s grade

    The same post title carried different pay scales across societies in one notification. Check the specific society you are applying to.

  7. Eligibility is checked before you can submit

    The board requires a check-eligibility step against the specific post before the apply option appears, and its notice states only one application per category post is accepted.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for a Junior Clerk post with just a degree?#

Not on the notification we read. Every graduate route pairs the degree with a co-operative diploma or the co-operation and banking science degree. A bare general degree is not listed as sufficient.

What is the Junior Diploma in Co-operation?#

The subordinate personnel co-operative training course qualification, named alongside the tenth standard as the base requirement for Junior Clerk.

Can experience replace the degree for a Secretary post?#

No. All four routes in the 2026 notification require a qualifying degree and pair it with years of experience. None waives the degree.

Are these the same qualifications as a Kerala PSC post?#

No. They are set under the co-operative societies rules and orders addressed to the co-operative sector, not under any Kerala PSC special rule.
