Weightage for sportspersons and ex-servicemen

A sports achievement does not earn weightage on its own. Where the certificate comes from an amateur sports organisation, that body must be affiliated to a listed national sports association and the certificate must carry the countersignature of the Secretary, Kerala Sports Council — certificates without it are stated as not being considered. The ex-servicemen certificate format, separately, is scoped to Army, Navy and Air Force.

Steps

  1. Claim it when you apply, or not at all

    The General Conditions state that a claim not made in the profile at the time of applying will not be considered for that post under any circumstances, that proof submitted without a matching claim is disregarded, and that a claim added afterwards counts only for future selections.

  2. The sports certificate chain

    The certificate must come from the authorities named in the governing Government Order. Where it is issued by an amateur sports organisation, that organisation must be affiliated to a national sports association listed in the Kerala Service Rules, and the certificate must be countersigned by the Secretary, Kerala Sports Council.

  3. No countersignature, no weightage

    The Commission states that certificates without that countersignature are not considered. This is the single most common reason a genuine achievement fails to count.

  4. The ex-servicemen format covers three services

    The Commission’s ex-servicemen certificate format is scoped to Army, Navy and Air Force. It does not reference the central armed police forces.

  5. Age relaxation for ex-servicemen is separate

    Relaxation runs to the extent of the period of service put in plus the period of unemployment after discharge, subject to a maximum of five years, and is separately extended to a named list including General Reserve Engineer Force personnel, reservists, NCC instructors and Territorial Army personnel.

  6. What is not published

    Whether children of central armed police force personnel qualify as dependants is not addressed anywhere we could find, and there is no published bar on ex-servicemen age relaxation for someone who has already used a central re-employment benefit. Silence is not permission — ask the Commission.
