Rechecking, and getting a copy of your OMR sheet

Kerala PSC does not allow revaluation of an answer script, but it does allow rechecking: applied through your own profile within 15 days of the ranked list being published, for a fee of ₹85, one attempt only, with no refund if the request is rejected. Separately you can request a photocopy of your OMR sheet — both Part A and Part B — for ₹335, issued once. Neither is available for a script invalidated for a defect.

Steps

  1. Know the difference between rechecking and revaluation

Revaluation — a second examiner marking your answers again — is not offered. Rechecking is a verification that your marks were totalled and recorded correctly. Only the second exists.

  2. Count 15 days from the ranked list

The window runs from the publication of the ranked list, not from the exam or the answer key. Miss it and there is no published route back.

  3. Apply through your profile only

Both requests go through the Commission’s online channel — see Rechecking of answer scripts. Applications by email, post or in person are not accepted.

  4. Pay the fee, and understand it is not refundable

Rechecking is ₹85. A photocopy of the OMR sheet, Part A and Part B, is ₹335 and is issued once. If a rechecking request is rejected, the fee is not refunded.

  5. One attempt each

Rechecking is a single attempt, and the OMR photocopy is issued only once. Plan accordingly rather than treating either as repeatable.

  6. An invalidated script cannot be rechecked

If your answer sheet was invalidated for a defect — a mismatched alpha code, errors in Part A, stray markings, a tampered barcode — neither rechecking nor a copy is available. See the OMR guide for what causes invalidation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get my Kerala PSC answer script revalued?#

No. Revaluation is not allowed. Rechecking — a verification that the marks were correctly totalled and recorded — is what the Commission offers.

What does rechecking cost and how long do I have?#

₹85, applied through your profile within 15 days of the ranked list being published. One attempt, and the fee is not refunded if the request is rejected.

Can I get a copy of my own OMR sheet?#

Yes — a photocopy of Part A and Part B, for ₹335, requested through the same profile channel and window. It is issued only once.

My script was invalidated — can I still apply for rechecking?#

No. Neither rechecking nor a photocopy is available for an answer script invalidated for a defect.

Does rechecking apply to descriptive exams like KAS too?#

Not always, and this is the one place the general rule and a specific selection disagree. The Commission’s standing procedure allows rechecking at ₹85, and its photocopy clause is written specifically about OMR answer sheets. But an individual selection’s own notice can say otherwise — the KAS shortlist notice states that revaluation and rechecking of answer scripts is not allowed for that selection. Read the notice for your own selection; it governs over the general page.

Can I get a photocopy of a descriptive answer script?#

The ₹335 photocopy clause names OMR answer sheets, Part A and Part B. For a descriptive script, what is available depends on that selection’s own notice — the KAS shortlist notice, for instance, describes scanned copies issued on request for a fee after the ranked list, while ruling out rechecking. We do not generalise from one selection to another here.
