Typing qualifications for Kerala PSC typist posts

For LD Typist under Category 107/2025, Kerala PSC does not administer a typing speed test. The requirement is a Kerala Government Technical Examination certificate in Typewriting at Lower grade, in both Malayalam and English, plus Computer Word Processing or its equivalent — qualifications you must already hold, verified at document verification. The Commission’s own practical-test schedule listing carried no typing, stenography or data-entry entries when we checked.

Steps

  1. Get the certificates before you apply

Category 107/2025 required Typewriting Malayalam Lower KGTE, Typewriting English Lower KGTE and Computer Word Processing or its equivalent. These are prerequisites, not something the Commission tests you on afterwards.

  2. Note the pre-2002 exception

The notification states that certificates obtained before January 2002 require a separate Computer Word Processing certificate.

  3. The SSLC floor applies as well

The educational qualification requirement sits alongside the typing certificates, not instead of them.

  4. Expect verification, not a test appointment

Certificates are checked at the normal document verification stage. The Commission’s practical-test schedule page listed driver, fireman, boat, blacksmith and hardware-engineer categories when we checked it, and no typing category.

  5. Where the speed figure actually comes from

The words-per-minute figures quoted online describe what a KGTE Lower certificate itself requires. That is an examination run by the technical education authority, not by Kerala PSC. Verify those numbers with the body that issues the certificate.
